The beach
While La Jolla Shores Beach is dog-friendly, pets must be kept on a leash at all times. Dogs are allowed before 9AM and after 6PM (4PM in the winter), giving you quiet hours to stroll along the sand and enjoy the view.
For more space to run, head to Fiesta Island in Mission Bay (about a 15–20 minute drive from La Jolla). This large, off-leash area has sandy beaches and grassy fields, so your dog can splash in the water or chase a ball across open land.

Kate Sessions Park, located in Mount Soledad, is a local favorite. Parakeet Café is known for its fresh menu and dog-friendly outdoor seating. Water bowls are located outside for pets to drink.

When it’s time to spoil your pup, visit Decker’s Dog & Cat on Ivanhoe Avenue. This long-standing boutique is stocked with healthy treats, durable toys, stylish collars, and wellness products that your dog will more than appreciate.
